On behalf of the International Union of Materials Research Society – International Conference in Asia – 2012 (IUMRS-ICA-2012) to be held from August 26 to 31, 2012 at BEXCO in Busan, Korea, it is my great honor and pleasure to cordially invite you to the Conference.

As you are probably aware of, IUMRS-ICA-2012 is a continuation in the series of the conferences among the Asian MRS Members including C-MRS, MRS-I, MRS-J, MRS-K, MRS-S and MRS-T, and this year’s conference is supported by the Material Research Society of Korea (MRS-K).

The program of the IUMRS-ICA-2012 consists of 5 symposia; Electronic and Photonic Materials, Functional Materials, Advanced Structural Materials, Materials for Energy and Environmental, Modeling and Characterization. Since the first Conference was commenced, this meeting has become a fundamental ground to exchange quality results and ideas provided by the researchers and scientists within the industry. Furthermore, it also provides a forum to present the cutting-edge research outputs for future collaborations which would help both students and researchers within their future research studies and works to be conducted. Hence, I strongly believe that the individuals actively engaged in materials research and developments are greatly encouraged to participate in the meeting and gain academic insights they have desired.

Busan, the place where this year’s meeting is held is the second largest city in Korea embracing the beautiful natural sceneries. Haeundae beach is especially the most popular, famous, and nationwide attraction which a great amount of people spends their time in summer and attracts various tourists visited from all over the world. Furthermore, the city is the first international port city in Korea therefore it serves as a main gateway for the Korean Peninsula and the entire Northeast Asian region which resulted in the well-built industrial infrastructure and many representative industries scattered near Busan.

The Organizing Committee of the IUMRS-ICA-2012 truly consider that it will be an absolutely great opportunity for you to gain not only the academic insights but also the vivid Korean culture and life styles which will be eventually broadened to the Asian cultures by the participants coming from all over the Asian countries.
